Post harvest
Our post harvest area has 1.091 m2, including precooling rooms, post harvest and cool rooms.
The criterias used to classify our roses are: length and thickness of stem, size, color and cutting stage of bud and foliage.
Each bunch is wrapped with micro corrugated cardboard to protect the roses, while the foliage is covered with a plastic sleeve to prevent dehydration and mechanical damages during transportation. Each bunch is identified with a label stating the variety, stem length, date of processing, number of stems per bunch and a code of the person who prepared the bunch. After that, the product is ready to pass to the inventory room. It must be hydrated until the following day at temperatures between 2 to 4 ºC. Throughout this time, the flower is hydrated with a high-quality, certified, commercial floral preservative.
It is also the place where performance tests are taken to ensure quality.
Storage
We have two cool room areas.
The first one is a pre-cooling area where the flowers arrive and the outdoor heat is removed swiftly in order to stop the development of the rose.
The second area has two cool rooms, one for hydration and cooling of the final product (our inventory), and the other is used to pack the roses before sending them to the different cargo agencies.
Packing
The packing process is also done at a temperature of 2 to 4ºC.
Each packing list is prepared individually, boxes are labelled accordingly and shipment is ready to leave to the different cargo agencies.
We use basically two types of boxes: half boxes and quarter boxes, depending on our customer´s need
